I am using macOS High Sierra 10.13.5, and version 0.82 (350) of the Ring doorbell app.

Up until a couple of weeks ago, it was running fine; if motion was detected a window popped up on the Mac screen for 20 or 30 seconds, then disappeared. I didn't acknowledge the notification at all, and it showed as 'MOTION' on the app.

Recently, however, I have been seeing a problem; when motion is detected the window pops up on the Mac screen as before, but will stay for several minutes (sometimes 8 minutes, sometimes 10 minutes, always a whole number of minutes). Even if I don't acknowledge the notification, it is showing as 'ANSWERED MOTION' on the app.
It ran the battery down from 100% to 88% in one day.
